Scientific Name: Pinus elliottii

Common Names: Slash Pine

Overview: Known as the Slash Pine, the Pinus Elliottii provides shade that is more open than other canopied trees, so your nearby shrubs and plants can get sufficient light. Slash Pines create a natural bird sanctuary, providing shelter to many different kinds of birds. Often home to owls, sometimes even eagles and egrets make their nests in its treetops. And of course, pine seeds are a great food source for squirrels and other small animals.

These woodsy-looking trees are ideal for your landscaping, and they are a fast growing option – usually topping off at about 60 feet. They need moderate amounts of water and do best when the soil is kept somewhat damp or frequently watered. Some people experience allergic reactions or increased asthma when around these trees, so make sure you or your family do not have this proclivity.

    The plant looks great but when I open the box I found new growth broken off i couldn’t find where I came from until I was repotting it and seen it the top of the tree winch is upsetting because i want it to look as nice like other slash pine grown to be now I think it will end up growing scraggly like jack pine
