ENJOY DELICIOUS FRUIT FROM A FUSS-FREE TREE
The Mangifera Indica or “Carrie” Mango has the distinction of being the world’s oldest cultivated fruit tree. Historians have found references about it from more than 4,000 years ago.
Ideal for the tropics and subtropics, this Mango does well in Florida, Arizona, and California in low moisture areas and even in poor soil. When fully grown, it looks very much like an oak tree – strong and sturdy. Its luscious yellow/red fruit is gaining in popularity, and is used in a wide range of recipes.
Too much water or even cooler weather will harm fruit production, which usually begins at about 2-3 years. When picking the fruit, you may want to wear gloves. Some people react to its exterior juices as they would to poison ivy.
